Meet Abdul Samassa!

Abdul Samassa is the founder of Thecision Span. He is a mentor, coach, and facilitator who strives to uplift youth by developing confidence and growth mindset. He grew up in the country of Mali in West Africa and then moved to the Bronx, NY as a teenager. During his childhood in Mali, Abdul learned about social values and surrounded himself with his elders in the pursuit of a deeper understanding of life. For several of those formative years in Mali he was immersed in extreme poverty, living in a house without running water or electricity.

Upon moving to NYC at the age of 18, Abdul started high school at Ellis Preparatory while managing a part time job, and competing in regional soccer tournaments and state Taekwondo championships. He had to quickly adapt to this unfamiliar environment full of monumental challenges, which included overcoming language barriers and surviving in a neighborhood where violence was common. Abdul persisted and graduated high school, then moved to the Capital Region of New York to get his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in less than six years.

Abdul holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and Methodology. He has a black belt in Taekwondo; is fluent in English, French, Bambara and Soninke; and holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Sparkling Students Engagement.

Abdul’s story has inspired many people throughout his lifetime, from his former high school’s staff and student body, his colleagues, and the hundreds of students of all ages he has worked with in educational settings.

Abdul is dedicated to supporting the vulnerable members of society. Currently he is focused on guiding at-risk youth through the challenges that may hinder their successful completion of middle and high school. He also extends his expertise and care to older adults, ensuring they receive the assistance and support they require. Through his unwavering commitment, Abdul exemplifies the compassion and determination necessary to uplift and empower people of all stages of life.

My approach

The decisions we make on a daily basis have a direct impact on the way we navigate through live. Adopting a growth mindset involves embracing challenges, persisting in the face of setbacks, and seeing effort as a path to mastery. When individuals consistently make decisions that align with these principles, they reinforce and strengthen their growth mindset.
Confidence, too, is closely intertwined with the decisions we make. Choosing to take on new opportunities, seeking feedback to improve, and learning from failures are all decisions that contribute to building and sustaining confidence. Each decision made in favor of growth and self-improvement can boost confidence levels and nurture a positive self-perception.
Therefore, it is evident that the daily choices we make significantly influence the development of a growth mindset and confidence. By consciously aligning our decisions with these principles, we can cultivate a stronger belief in our abilities and a steadfast approach to personal and professional development.

Self-esteem

Positive self-esteem is a vital component of one's overall well-being and success. It involves recognizing one's worth, abilities, and accomplishments, leading to a sense of self-respect and confidence. When individuals possess positive self-esteem, they are more likely to take on challenges, persevere in the face of setbacks, and maintain healthy relationships. This self-assurance allows individuals to set boundaries, make decisions that align with their values, and pursue their goals with determination. Nurturing positive self-esteem involves practicing self-care, acknowledging achievements, and cultivating a growth mindset that embraces learning and personal development. Ultimately, positive self-esteem serves as a foundation for a fulfilling and empowered life.

Confidence

When it comes to developing confidence, it is essential to recognize the value you bring to the table. At Thecision Span, we believe that instilling a sense of worth and purpose in our students is crucial in fostering self-assurance. Just like our approach to crafting pricing strategies, which are value-based, providing clear details, and unique to each individual, building confidence involves understanding your strengths, attributes, and the impact you can make. By acknowledging your worth, articulating your skills with clarity, and embracing what sets you apart, you can develop the confidence needed to navigate challenges and opportunities with resilience.
